Ed Bott was right
Using Word to compose a WordPress blog and post it is drop-dead simple. Ed Bott wrote about it on his personal blog yesterday.
One BIG trick (which I learned from Herb Tyson’s blog): before you can post from Word, you have to “Enable RPC” in WordPress.
Once WordPress is set up correctly, go to Word, click File, New, Blog Post, have your WordPress id and password ready, and it’s drop-dead simple.
Now that I see the light, I (like Ed) wonder why people are worried about losing Windows Live Writer. Years ago, Word used to produce execrable HTML. But I can tell – just by looking at it – that the “create blog” generated HTML in Word 2010, at least, is just fine.
Amazing. Old dog, new tricks.
