Access 2007 convert to Access 2000 file format

i have converted an access 2007 database to access 2000. it converted ok.
However when i enter the database using access 2003 and i change a form it bombs right out of access when i try to write back the changes.
I have access 2003 sp3 and access 2007 sp2

Any ideas?

Replies

You should develop in the oldest version you need to support, and if necessary convert to a newer format, not the other way round.

Does it help if you compact and repair the database in Access 2003?
Or if you decompile it?

Unfortunately i have inherited this database already developed in Access 2007 accdb format, and i want to convert it to access 2000 file format and develop the changes they want in access 2003.

I have compacted, and have tried the decompile and compact but still no good.

I have determined that not all forms bomb the database when i save changes, it may be forms that contain old object controls, i will investigate further.

I meant bound OLE object controls.

That was the problem, i deleted the control and wrote the form back, then editted the form and added the bound OLE control again and all is well.

Still got the problem, i have deleted the bound OLE control and have written it back, all seems ok.

When i go into design mode on on of these forms and go to form view it bombs again.

I will totally reconstruct these 2 forms and see what happens.

I have reconstructed the forms by copy the controls and VBA code.
Still the problem persists when i enter design view of the form then go into form view.

Is there a chance some special 2007 code or whatever is making this 2003 database do this? Maybe macros?

Have you tried creating a blank new database in Access 2003 and importing the tables, queries, forms etc. from the converted Access 2007 database? (You can’t import directly from a .accdb database.)

Yes i have saved the Access 2007 database in Access 2003-2003 format, then imported that into a newly created Access 2003 database under Access 2000 format.

Still problems, it almost seems that Access 2003 chucks a wobbly when writing the form back to the database because it cannot understand code/whatever from Access 2007, but that is just supposition.

I will keep testing.
