• ACCESS column importing limits

I have a large txt file with | delimiter BUT there are 287 columns, Access says it can only import 255 columns. How can I limit the number of columns imported without deleting them in excel one by one.

What do you want to do with it once you have it in Access seeing there is a 255 column restriction?
Even if you can import it into multiple tables and could join them, a query would only allow 255 columns as well (I think).
What version of Access do you have?

I think the TransferSpreadsheet command allows you to specify by a range of Row/Columns.

If I am right there I would import the file into Excel then import it in chunks to different tables.

Thanks… yeah… that might work… I need to delete 100+ columns anyway… yeah… use the common key and bring it in pieces…. yeah

        THANKS

        Using Access 2007 or 2010
