I have a project that is slipping. What is the best way to show reality in the project? Example

    Task 1 Start = 4/10 Finish = 5/13. 50% complete

As of today, 5/11, clearly it’s not going to make it. The best case is now probably closer to the end of the month. I’d like MSP to take into consideration the % complete and recalculate the finish date.

    Task 2 Start = 5/1 Finish = 5/13. 0% complete

This should change to best case start = 5/11.

I’ve tried the Adjust Dates button, but am not certain it handles this well. It mentions adjusting the Project START, which also seems wrong for what I want.

Since the task is 50% complete probably the easiest way to show that the task has slipped is to just double the duration and enter it manually in the Task Entry table. If you have created dependancy realtionships all subsequent tasks should move out accordingly and automatically adjust to the change.

      Bryan,

Are you allowing MS Project to Status your project as of a given date such that the dates will move automatically? What type of tasks are you using, fixed duration, resource driven, or other?

Thanks Gary. Yes, that’s what I want. Everything is fixed units.
