Woody is a very good site and most of us come here first and foremost seeking answers.

Many of the posted topics become a composite of questions, procedure, and depending on the month and topic, a lot of ranting due to frustrations with MS.

Many times real good questions get lost and go unanswered.

The next topic gets posted and everyone tends to go over there, while the previous post(s)questions go unanswered and get more & more lost unless someone asked them again in a more current posting.

Would it be possible to cull learned questions about Updates, Update procedures/tools/implementation, wushowhide, etc into a separate area where MVP’s and members could focus on them and provide answers?

This would better ensure answers are made, and once made, can be referred to and enhanced as needed verses having them unanswered and asked again in another and another posting.

I note that you have an Ask Woody Lounge Forum, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to get the postings that get interlaced in the daily post area. That is why maybe questions could be moved there by someone at Woodys.

What you ask is a massive amount of (hu)man hours’ work, and our humble band of volunteers just don’t extend to catering to such data manipulation.

Each Support forum area has Questions and Patch topics, where such questions can be located.

We are also hit with repeat requests for the same information, where the subsequent posters haven’t taken the time to read the answer already given – asking the same question again usually doesn’t get a different answer. Taking the time to search the site before posting would prevent such repeat instances, and taking the time to read the answer to the original post would also save us some work 🙂

The solution might be to learn to navigate this site.

If one investigates, in the right bar (colored brown) on this and on every page of Woody’s, the links given there to various specialized sections, also the list of subjects posted recently, as well as the topic started by other users the same way you started this one, one may find answers, or ways to get answers, to what you are asking for.

If that search proved unsuccessful, then you can start a new thread with your own particular and so far unanswered question inside one of the main sections.

We are in the same general direction with differnt points that may be able to be solved. Your point that answers are given but not reviewed, my point is many times answers are not provided and the question needs to asked again.

If they could be gathered somehow better, perhaps both goals may be better met.

      Just a suggestion.

It’s very frustrating when we have to deal with repeat requests for the same information, as this is very time-consuming for us. Please remember that we are just a willing band of volunteers, and we have other jobs and real lives to attend to as well as helping out here.

We also realise it’s frustrating to not get a question answered. The effort required to handle responses is severely limited when posters post the same thing again shortly after the original post, or in many places, or something already posted (and even worse, already answered). By all means, if your query (or someone else’s with the same details) has not received a response within 3 days, please feel free to repost or open a new topic in the Questions Support Fora related to the query. Reposting after an hour or two isn’t appropriate, though.

Repeatedly posting the same thing may well be mistaken for spam, and never see the light of day. Also, repetition is mentioned in the Lounge Rules as a reason why things may not be posted.

By taking the time to search the site, using the box in the right-hand panel, you may well be freeing us up to be able to provide more information 🙂

Sometimes I’ll find a particularly striking question (and answer!) in the Lounge, and move it up to the main page. Doing so is complex, and I limit the (literal) promotion to topics that I think have wide appeal.

I hope that the structure of the Lounge will help you place and find questions – and get answers. If you’d like to add a specific forum, let me know!

      Woody, Kirsty

Thanks for reading and considering this suggestion.

I appreciate the feedback and enlightening discussion from your perspective. I can appreciate the (hu)man power side of implementation.

The 3 day guidance is a winner!
