Are free antivirus programs like AVG and AVAST compatible with Windows 7?

Avast enthusiastically indicates that it has earned the Windows 7 logo! And it supports 64-bit programs.
If an AV manufacturer didn’t support Windows 7, they would very soon be out of business!

Avast is doing its usual excellent job for me AND is updating itself regularly which is more than I can say for Microsoft’s Securty Essentials. There is a registry hack floating around the internet to make MSE update its signature files more frequently but I don’t think I should have to do that with an AV program.
I’m sticking with Avast!

AskWoody LoungerDecember 3, 2009 at 1:30 pm #1188252Virus Bulletin has just published the results of their test of 43 antivirus products for Windows 7. Registration (free) is required to see the test results’ summary, complete information is only available to paid subscribers.
In my experience, this is one of the very few sources of reliable information on antivirus software.
