There are widespread reports of Apple users being locked out of their Apple ID overnight for no apparent reason, requiring a password reset before they can log in again.

Users say the sudden inexplicable Apple ID sign-out is occurring across multiple devices. When they attempt to sign in again they are locked out of their account and asked to reset their password in order to regain access.

This has led to additional Apple ID issues for users with Stolen Device Protection enabled who are away from a trusted location, as well as any app-specific passwords previously set up in iCloud also being reset…

Apple users are being locked out of their Apple IDs with no explanation

      Bigger issue at play.

I simply surmise here, yet if you look at this article (one of numerous online and today), it seems Apple’s own internal systems were targeted last month https://www.zdnet.com/article/new-password-reset-attack-targets-apple-device-users-what-to-do-if-it-happens-to-you/

If hackers can ‘spoof’ apple support call back ph #’s, I’m certain Apple ID’s 2fa have been accessed in some way?

I’ve always wondered how Apple governs security of all their ‘support workers & Sr advisors’ working from home, dogs barking & babies crying in bg?

Early last month, I had 3 Apple+ support callbacks (using their App) for same issue.. 1st Sr advisor was easily able to screen share after verbal questions, as usual-great! Had to call back as line was lost. Next up-Sr advisor wasn’t able to screenshare-had me login via web to appleid.com to “generate support pin”. Failed? Tried numerous times, told “it’s your device”? 3rd call, Sr advisor screen shared without hoops just fine. (All were from 3 diff parts of country).

No one Entity is immune these days. Yet this is massive-unable to use iphone/ipad etc for imp. communication? The exorbitant consumer worry, waking up to AID sign-outs, lengthy password resets-which we still don’t know if that is just a quick “patch”, wondering if your precious AID & icloud, online life, had been hacked? Hours/day trying to get in? Of course Apple can’t comment until they gain control again (smart move, yet what a tax on us consumers daily life.) Their motto “It just works” rings hollow. Ios 17.5 ahead??? Argh. I just need a phone & txt, quit diddling with untested features most don’t need & jeopardize our security in the mix!

Interesting, Apple just put out a new page April 26 (yesterday, reset password, getting themselves of the hook?) https://support.apple.com/en-us/102656

Apple best get their act together, and get atop of this! Me thinks they diddle too much with “features” without proper testing.(Sounds like M/Soft lately) KISS. Expensive devices. Dare I say I smell another lawsuit?

No, it did not. Users are targeted not Apple systems.
Apple’s systems, iCloud… has never been hacked.

This is probably a bug while updating some services…

      * If you set ‘device anti theft..’ setting to on you will have to wait an hour in order to reset your AppleID.

My AppleID on iPhone, iPad, Apple watch is fine.

Lets hope so! I’m sure they are on it. And the truth shall come out:) Perhaps they forgot to trigger a ‘services down’ last two days, as it has shown all are operating when checked by many over the hours. https://www.apple.com/ca/support/systemstatus/

*That setting is and has never been ‘on’ here on my devices. Not Stolen Device Protection, device anti theft, nor it’s predecessors.

I personally did not get hit with this, yet been helping many neighbours that have. We’ll see!

as it has shown all are operating when checked by many over the hours.

Yesterday there were some services in ‘fixed’ status.

Apple uses Google, Amazon data centers (dumped Microsoft) so the culprit may be with them.
