I would like to know if anyone has an idea
how I could make a global change to all my
powerpoint documents. I’ve over 700 documents
in my repository so doing things by hand is
less than appealing. What i am needing to
add is basically a ‘rubber stamp’ of text
to the master file of each document.
I am on Windows/Me, and using Powerpoint/XP.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 2, 2001 at 8:27 pm #1785373Just so I know how to best answer the question…
Have you done any Powerpoint VBA?
Have you used the FileSearch object?
Are all the documents in one folder?
Can you just replace all the other slide masters with the current one or is there a specific object that has text that you want to change. Is this object always in the same place? Thanks! –Sam -

GuestJuly 2, 2001 at 8:59 pm #1785375Great questions – I apologize for not being more verbose. I’m still new to Windows…
1. I’ve not done any Powerpoint VBA – is this something I can do with Windows/Me and Office/XP out of the box, or does it need some additional components? In either case, are there tutorials that would get someone who has programmed in other languages on other platforms started?
2. What is the FileSearch object? I would guess the answer to your question is no…
3. All the documents are in one folder.
4. Regarding whether i can replace all the slide masters… hmm, I believe that i can.
In more than 90% of the cases, they all were created using the same basic master template, or at least the intention is that they were.
The other 10% or less can probably be handled
without as much grief.5. The change I am wanting to add is to add a licensing acknowledgement to the slides. So it is adding a very small text element to a specific spot at the bottom of the master slide.
I hope this helps.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 2, 2001 at 11:27 pm #1785384OK, here are the assumptions:
1) You have a folder with a buch of .ppt files
2) You want to add (not Edit) a textbox to the Slide Master of each of these files
3) You do not want to mess with any of the other Masters; ie the Title Master, etc. Here’s the solution:
1) Make a backup copy of all the *.ppt files in case you don’t like the results.
2) Copy one of the files to a new file called Edit.ppt
3) Open Edit.ppt
4) Allow macros to run by using the Tools, Macro, Security -
