I haven’t analyzed just what the conditions are, but sometimes when I post – or it may be when I am editing a post – the backslashes disappear. So, for example,
      C:\Users\Paul\Documents\test.txt
      becomes
      C:UsersPaulDocumentstest.txt
Another edit to insert the slashes does keep them.

Now, since this is all in the Testing Forum, I’ll do an Edit to see if any elucidation appears.

Edit addition — First edit in progress. Re-posting.

Second edit addition — Logged Out and back In again to see if that makes a difference. It didn’t. Giving up for now. Unless this Submit shows a difference.

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\SWD\RADIO

Good… no problems so far. Now let’s repeat the paste:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\SWD\RADIO

      Still good.

Lets see if Vusual/text makes the difference. I noticed in the past, that backslash are not displayed sometimes. thanks for the sandbox idea.

Its hard to tell, when interpreter misunderstands the backslash. It must be some sequence of characters I think.

Thanks for testing, @Doriel. I still have no idea why this issue sometimes appears but cannot be duplicated. It wouldn’t really be an issue except the ‘editing’ window is such a small amount of time. If I haven’t noticed immediately and corrected it then I often have to DM poor @PKCano to fix it.

      C:\Users\user\Desktop\Media\Test

Darn, I still can’t fathom what triggers it.

In my experience I find when it drops the “\” with the original Submit, if I then edit the post and put the “\” in, they remain.
But it takes submitting, looking at the results, then editing.
A PITA but it seems to work.

We need a preview function so we can see what is going on before we hit submit. I especially like the one on StackOverflow.com. I still have to go back an edit posted items but it is necessary a lot less often. 😎

More than 6 months on and it’s still a very annoying recurring problem.

Perhaps it’s just a ‘feature’ that can’t be fixed.
