    Dear Loungers,

At work they are planning to replace my PC. I am a little nervous of this since I seem to know more that the guys doing the upgrade – they are just running a build script. And although it is supposed to taken all current settings several colleagues have had various issues.

So, my question is: do you know if there is there a utility which will backup application settings and allow selective restore of the settings fore one or more applications?

    Thank you…………………… liz

You could try Easy Transfer directly from MS. I believe this transfers the settings you choose onto a removable media, then the reverse on the new PC.

That’ll be a real gray area, especially if your are not the owner of the machine in question.

Your best bet will be in sitting down beforehand and working out the set up specifics between yourself, your employer, and the person doing the upgrade.

You’ll likely need permission in most instances to make modifications to a company computer default setup.
