    Hi,

What is the best way to merge data from access front end into a word document.

At the moment, I have vba code that creates a text file from a query. Then the word document has the fields and where they need to go and the word document imports the text file as a Mailmerge.

Is there a better way to do this?

If you can define what fields are required in a query, then just use that query in word

There are some issues with doing mail merges from queries if the query includes a parameter prompt. If you take that approach, then you have to resort to using the older DDE technology. If you want to dig a bit deeper, the tutorial Managing Merges With Access might be helpful. It is a bit dated (2003), but the concepts are still appropriate.

The other approach is to use Automation to fill in the Word document with the appropriate information using the “bookmarks” approach, which works very well if you only want to create one or only a few documents. But if you are creating a larger number, mail merge is still the best approach.
