I stumbled across Qualys BrowserCheck yesterday and thought I would mention it here on WSL as I don’t remember seeing its name before.
It’s a free browser-based service that checks either the current or all detected browsers for out-of-date versions of the browsers themselves and any plugins. Using its Intermediate Scan it correctly identified the 3 browsers I have installed on my main PC and showed me that my IE and Shockwave was out-of-date. (Hmmm… and I thought I kept up to date!)

Note the drop-down on the right-hand site for choosing the type of scan. Also note that whilst you can carry out a scan without installing the Qualys BrowserCheck Plugin, you get more comprehensive and more accurate results (and automated scans if you wish) if you do install the plug-in. I did a comparison test on a virtual machine and found that using the plugin was much better. For example, without the plugin BrowserCheck didn’t flag that the version of IE in the VM was way out-of-date but immediately detected it and provided a link to ‘Fix it’ as soon as the plugin was installed.
The Advanced Scan took nearly 7 minutes on a new Windows 7 VM and correctly identified missing MS Security Updates.

Anyway, if anyone wants a quick check of their browsers and plugins (and Microsoft Security Updates if you choose the Advanced Scan) then you may find this useful.
Hope this helps…
