• cannot access outlook 2010 data file

I moved My Documents folder from my C drive to D drive. Since that time I get an error message 0x8004010F that Outlook cannot open my data file. I’ve checked my data file setting in Outlook and the new location is shown in data file location. My outlook profile points to the correct location. I’ve tried system restore, office repair and scan pst with no success. I’ve even restored the pst file from a backup and I get the same message. It looks like something in the office 10 software cannot find the file but I cannot understand why since all pointers seem to point to new location. I did notice when I first ran scanpst.exe that it went to the old file location first so I deleted the old shortcut thinking office would correct itself but no luck. The pst file seems OK and office opens it OK but then it cannot access the data file for sending and receiving messages. Could this maybe be a security issue? Any thoughts?

    Thanks, Ralph

Moving data to another partition is (or was) a major topic, and I don’t know how deeply you got into it. I’m a bit rusty myself and probably out of date, but:

      • Lincoln Spector, of Windows Secrets, wrote a column called Move Your Data to a Separate Partition in the March 1, 2010 PC World, which you may or may not be able to locate online.

What you mean is that you can see the contents of the pst file but then you get an error message when you start a send / receive?
