I normally use Gmail to correspond. But if I am not in a browser, such as Word, PDF, etc. and go to file, send, email it opens Thunderbird. This works but I am trying to change to Win10 Mail app. In Win settings I have Mail as my default email program, not Thunderbird but it still opens Thunderbird when I try to send a Doc from it’s app. What am I missing? BTW it is not a browser issue and Thunderbird Opts do NOT have the check if it is Default checked.

Try this – go to Control Panel | Programs | Default Programs | Set your default programs. Find the Windows 10 mail (named Mail) program and select it. Click “Set this program as default”.

Thanks Joe but I did that already. That is what is puzzling why Thunderbird opens when Mail is the default app.

Have you tried doing the same with Thunderbird, but deselecting any associations that are set for Thunderbird? Go to Control Panel > Default Programs > Set Default Programs > Set Program Associations for Thunderbird, and see if any Extensions or Protocols have Thunderbird set as current default. If so, clear the check mark before saving.

Before you click “set this program…”, what does it say above about how many defaults Mail is already set?

Why not uninstall Thunderbird if you choose not to use it?

considered it, but being stubborn and curious. figure there must be a way to change back and forth if I wish, just can’t find the way yet
