I have a query of around 160 columns that returns around 110 rows that I want to export into Excel. When I select the whole table and choose Copy or I goto Tools/OfficeLinks/Analyze It with MS Excel the process hangs. I can still operate in Access, but the little progress bar at the bottom stays stuck on the first unit. No data is copied to the clipboard and and the Excel file that it creates I cannot be opened. Is there some limit that I’m running up against? Something I should be taking into account? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Karl

OK – I ended up solving my problem by writing the query contents back to a table in the DB and then copying the contents of the table which I was then able to past from the clipboard just fine. I’m still curious why this happened if anyone has any ideas.

Does the query include Memo or OLE fields? If so, the amount of data to be processed could exceed available resources. Otherwise, it shouldn’t really be a problem. Have you tried copying a few records at a time?

Nope, no memo or OLE fields. I can do it a few rows or columns at a time from the query without an apparent problem. Thanks for the reply Hans.

Even without memo or OLE fields, it would seem to be a resources problem if you can copy a few records but not the entire table. Have you tried File | Export?

Export on the query also doesn’t work, though on the table it works fine. Maybe the difference between the resources it takes to run a query and display a table are enough to cause the difference. At least I was able to get the data out in the end. Thanks, -K.
