• Change to urls in notifications

We’ve made a change to the notifications you get from the site.  No longer will the links include “u7211552.ct.sendgrid/ls/click and then a really long guid code” they will now say “mailing.askwoody.com/ls/click….. and then a really long guid code”.  The guid code is sendgrid’s tracking tool to ensure that mail is delivered.   (the mailing hoster that does the backend mailing for the site as well as the free newsletter).

Bottom line in order to be a proper “netizen” I wanted to ensure the links sent look like they are from us and thus validated by us.

      Hi Susan:

One problem.  The post links in the email notifications now start with http://mailing.askwoody… (i.e., not https://…) …

… which throw the following warning in my Firefox browser when the post link is clicked. I can circumvent the block in my browser by clicking “Continue to HTTP Site”.

This is when I hate hosted servers.  Open a ticket and wait.  Mind you the hold up is not our hosted server but the mail service.  Going back and forth with them to make sure it’s set up right.

FINALLY!!  I think we got it now.

Sendgrid links (our mail hoster) are branded as https://mailing.askwoody.com and then a guid code.  We plan in an upcoming special edition to go into the details of what’s going on behind the scenes of askwoody.com and I REALLY wanted to get this link branding in place before then.

Yes, the email notification for your reply came through and the post link is now for secure https://mailing.askwoody … Thanks for taking care of this.
