      Can you explain a bit more about where you have found this “function”, as I cannot find it anywhere obvious in the Word 2007 user interface.

        Hi

        I can’t swear to it but I think it was Hans V it goes something like {=(countbelow)} or {=(countabove)}

        NB it appears if you use Ctrl and F9) and enter the formula it works but cannot see the formula again once you hit F9 again

        Hi Stuart

        It was Pam Caswell not Hans V and the correct function is { =count(above) } or { =count(above)-1 } minus how many rows you do not want to count.
        or{ =count(below)-1 }

        Apologies to Pam and Hans.

      hi braddy,

      For info on using the ABOVE, BELOW, LEFT and RIGHT parameters as arguments for the AVERAGE(), COUNT(), MAX(), MIN(), PRODUCT(), and SUM() functions, check out ‘Referencing Adjacent Cells In A Row Or Column’ in my Word Field Maths Tutorial.
