    Here is my problem!
My Directors have asked me to create a “Staff News” pop up made viewable when staff log on in the morning. I have created a web page and placed it on my document management system and have created a shortcut to it. I initially thought of zipping the shortcut as a self extracting file which dumped in the recipients start up folder on their PC. I was going to email this to all staff so they could do it themselves! This is feasible but knowing the staff in my company, as soon as they get more then one choice ( which winzip does) they press the cancel button!!! doh

Is there a simple bit of VB I can use that on run time it dumps a short cut to the start up menu automatically without decision making requirements.

PS Please be gentle I am a VB Novice puppy

If you already have the shortcut, why not talk to your Network guys and have them “push” the link to the user as part of the login script.

Both Novell networks and Windows Networks should be able do that.

Another though just occured, why not just have the net admins run the “Staff News” popup as part of the login script. That way any “smart” users that don’t want to see it, can’t delete the shortcut on you. They will always get it.

Thanks Bryan, I thought that would be the answer, it was only because we have 4000 staff in the company and I wanted to field it out to about 100 staff from various departments and didn’t really want to become the poor guy that has to do the admin on starters, leavers and work groups admin, which no doubt the Corporate IT group would want me to do groan .

I am always trying to find the quick fix to get around the red tape pirate
