A user inserted a worksheet into an existing excel file, saved and closed the file. He got no error messages and he did not crash. When he reopened the file, nothing – NOTHING – was there, not what was there before he inserted the worksheet and not the data he inserted. The file size went from 300K to 3K. Any idea what happened?

My first suspicion is that the updated version saved to another location.

Well, we are using a DMS, and the file is still there, it’s just 3K instead of 300K.

I may be wrong, it’s just a possibility. My speculation is that the file is still there because the new file was mistakenly saved to another location, most likely the users’ default save location. Look there and also run Explorer Search for duplicate files of that same name.
