How do I change the default address format in contacts from
7 James Street
Suburb, Western Australia 6000

to

7 James Street
Suburb
Western Australia 6000

i’m not sure i understand the question as presented, since all you would do is type in the extra line on the contact.

possible areas where you would need to do this include the view – customize the current view (view menu) to show more lines if needed. For insertation into word, change the autocorrect format (but i’m sure both already use line 2)

Sorry, if I wasn’t very explanatory in my earlier post.

If I just type in the extra enter after the suburb Outlook the puts the Suburb (Which I file under the City field) in the Street field and puts Western in the City field and Australia in the State field, whenever I edit the address.

Hi Melissa,

As I understand it, when your Regional Settings are set to English Australian, Outlook then expects that you will enter addresses into Contacts using the “Australia Post preferred way”.

Using this method you should not be using the full wording for the state (ie. Western Australia) but should be using the standard abbreviation (ie. WA). I know that this doesn’t solve your problem, and I am not sure how you would go about changing the default address format, but at least it explains a little about why it is behaving the way it is.

Using your example you would need to have your address in the following format:

7 James Street
Suburb WA 6000

(Note: no punctuation to be used at all)

Your suggestion of using WA stops Outlook splitting up Western Australia into two parts (which is good), but Outlook still puts the suburb under the street address if I put in an enter before the state (which I gues I should do). It also adds a comma in the address before WA. Which as you says Australia Post doesn’t want us to do. If you delete the comma it moves WA to the city field.

Any more ideas?
