I have a 40 GB Hard Drive EID – that has two partitions – one is a 4 GB and the other has the remaining space. This is from a donated computer for a local Thrift Store that I volunteer at. I would like to delete the two partitions and go back to the full 40 GB space. I am using a USB EIDE connector. How can I delete the partitions, then create a new partition and then format the drive? I am running Windows XP on my “work” computer that I use to connect the USB EIDE.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerOctober 19, 2009 at 4:59 pm #1182266If you are going to use this as the system/boot disk then you can delete both partitions and then create and format a new partition at the start of the operating system installation, after you have booted from a CD.
If it is going to be a data disk then you can use disk manager to delete existing partitions and add the new one. You can run disk manager by Start > Run > diskmgr.msc, or by right clicking on My Computer, choosing Manage and then selecting disk manager in the left pane.

Diskmgr.msc worked just fine. Thanks for the help.
