• Deploy software patches

I used to use Shavlik to deploy software patches to my computers (100 computers at multiple locations). It went away and I switched to go.vmware (VmWare Go Pro) at $12 per machine per year. Now it is being phased out. The new software they recommend is vCenter Protect Standard at $35 per computer per year.

I like having all software patches (not just Microsoft) deployable from one place.

What third party software do you use for deploying software updates instead of Windows Update?

We use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, but its far too expensive for a small environment like yours. Prior to going with SCCM we looked at a lot of options. vCenter Protect Standard was one of the better and cheapest ones on the market.
