I don’t know whether to post this in Non-Microsoft OSes or Networking. I’ll try here first.
I am connected to a local network at the office that supplies network configuration via DHCP. They use the “ipconfig /setclassid” command on the individual PC’s to determine which set of DHCP parameters to load to each PC. The LAN has two different gateways (and possibly different IP ranges) and the class ID determines which default gateway (and maybe IP address) is assigned. This works fine for Windows PC’s, but I can’t find the equivalent Linux parameter to set to accomplish the same thing with a Linux machine.
I have tried numerous searches on Google with no luck. Any suggestions?
I’m using Ubuntu 9.10 in a dual boot configuration with Windows XP SP3. I can connect fine with the Windows partition, but no luck with the Linux side.
