I got myself a new HP ZBook 15 G5 mobile workstation during the week. I got it quite cheap because it was a HP refurbished unit but it was sold as-new with a full warranty. I’m very happy with it but there’s a couple of event log entries that concern me a little.

Any time a sound plays, I get this one:

    Level: Information
    ID: 19
    Source: OED
Text: Check the remaining resource budget. Module exceeds resource budget, failed to AllocateFwCps, STATUS = Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API..

Secondly, when I connect to a Wi-Fi network, I get this one:

    Level: Warning
    ID: 6062
    Source: Netwtw08
Text: 6062 – Lso was triggered

The laptop appears to be working fine so maybe I don’t have anything to worry about, but does anyone know what these could be? I’m using all of the current drivers from HP’s website. The audio is a Conexant chip and the Wi-Fi is an Intel 9560.

What RAM and hard disk size?
How much is in use – open Task Manager to check.

How did you find that error message?

      cheers, Paul

They appear in the System event log, I’ve attached an example of each.

The laptop has 32GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. It’s partitioned in two volumes with 100GB assigned to the OS but still 50GB free. It doesn’t seem to be memory-related either; I can experience it even at idle with less than 4GB committed, as reported by Task Manager.

Are there any yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager?

I would uninstall the driver in Device Manager and reboot to let Windows reinstall.

      cheers, Paul

No, no unknown devices in there. But I’ve resolved the issue with the sound at least.

I ran the HP Softpaq Download Manager and let it install anything that looked relevant. Works fine now but am still getting the Wi-Fi error.

I have found the HP Softpaq Download Manager to be very useful.
