After restoring my PC (Win7/64 with both Excel 2010 and 2003), at least Excel 2010 behaves, saves settings, allows developer tab to show etc (my post of 16/1).
However, when I try to open Excel 2010 spreadsheets (packed with macro’s) it continues to give the message: “can’t find….”.
I have tried to open as many references as I can, solver, name manger etc but no luck.

Most suggestions on this and other fora will say: look at the checkbox with prefix “missing”, but the problem
is here: when the macro’s start to open, and the errormessage shows, you are in some mode, “break” I believe, that does not allow to see which references are missing (VBA/tools/references are greyed out).
So I am in a catch22 situation and the only option is to force Excel down via task manager.

In excel 2003, when you transfer to another machine, you need to include also addins that were downloaded from the web, eg. namemanager (not included in Excel 2003) and findlinks.

    grateful any idea’s

      MB47,

When you are dumped into Break mode click on the Run menu item and select Reset. This will then allow you to get to the References section.

      HTH

Thanks RetiredGeek, it works but don’t know how! I must have added in the right add-ins!
Will try to use it, if it happens again.

Retired geek, I had same problem again with another spreadsheet, apparently I did not load “name manager”.
However, resetting did not work, it then gives again the message: “can’t find….”. Any other ideas?
