• Excel can’t open a file

I have installed Office 2007 student/home version (all updates completed). I have a spreadsheet on one user’s profile, shared the file with everyone. Log on on as other user, navigate to the file that is shared on other user profile, can see the file, can click on file and Excel opens, but then i get this error:

    Windows cannot find

’c:UsersPublicDocumentsTechFormsfile.xls.’ Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

I can open the file on the owner’s profile. So I moved the file to the other user and tried opening file on that profile and still receive the same error. File is not encrypted.

      shihalud,

Does the file have VBA (Macros)? If so you’ll have to set the Trusted Locatioins to include the Public shared directory and allow files on Networked Devices.

It could be a permission issue, right click on the file, select Properties > Security. Make sure everyone has read / write access.

      cheers, Paul
