Excel closed un-saved content with no prompt

Hello, just had experienced something unique (at least I’ve not seen this behaviour.).  My Excel is 1809 / Build 10827.20150 (which by the look of the changed tool bar it appears to be the latest update, haven’t checked), running on the Win10 Home / 1803 / updated with Oct. patches).  This post is an FYI, in case others experienced something similar with the latest Excel build.

Scenario, had two files open, one stored on my One-Drive setup, the other stored on the corporate server using a VPN connection.  The file open through the VPN connection was updated but not saved.  The other One-Drive file was opened, but hadn’t made any changes.

Went to exit out of the One-Drive Excel file, and Excel closed down it and the VPN open file, loosing my edits (2 hours worth of reviewing log entries and other mundane regular server checks).

Open the VPN file once again, made a change, tried exiting, and it came up with the familiar “Do you want to save prompt” and after trying various different ways, couldn’t reduplicate the original reason for this posting.

You appear to be referring to Office365.

Do you have AutoSave set to On? Shouldn’t that have saved your edits? If not, AutoRecover should have been the backup. It’s very frustrating to lose your hard work like that.

Office builds in the 10827.* range have had unexplained application closes for me as well. Excel, Outlook, Word, even OneNote once – haven’t tested Powerpoint much and Access not at all, though…
