• Extending formulas down a spreadsheet

I have an Excel 2007 spreadsheet that I use for calculating MPG, cost per mile driven, etc.

I got the spreadsheet from an Internet source and it came with several columns with Formulas in them.
But the formulas only extend down the sheet to line 50, then they stop.

What I need to know is how to extend the formulas in their columns down to say line 200 or more.

I have no formal or otherwise training in Excel, so this has become a real problem for me as I approach line 50.

In the past I’ve just closed the sheet when line 50 is reached and I start a new sheet. I’d like to NOT have to do that when the sheet gets full again.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    😎

Just highlight/copy the last line of cell(s), highlight same range of cells in rows 51-200 and then paste. Any adjustments in the formulas will be made automatically.

      Hi

Just to add to Maudibe post, ensure that the cell referencing is correct.

      Maudibe,
      Thank you very much!
My accomplishments in this world are many and varied, but I must admit that programming Excel is definitely NOT one of them.
So your answer to my query was Right ON and very helpful.

I did make a few false starts, before I got it right. Your explanation was very straight forward and 100% correct, but there’s a little “Technique” in there that has to be mastered before total success comes. (I practiced on an old retired spreadsheet before I actually worked the magic on my current MPG spreadsheet) Better safe than sorry, , , Eh?

But now, Thank YOU, I have my formulas extended down to line 250. That should easily carry me through to the end of the year, when I’ll retire the current spreadsheet and start a new one for 2014.

Just for fun, here’s a few lines from that Excel spreadsheet.

It sure beats keeping my mileage and gasoline purchases in a written journal and doing all the math by hand.

      Thanks again!
