Hi Loungers,
Wasn’t sure if this Lounge could help with an ftp issue, but found lots of posts on FileZilla so thought I’d see if you can help with my issue.
For over a week now, I have not been able to connect via ftp or sftp to our server (PowWeb). The host has been spectacularly unable to help despite over a week of phone calls and support tickets. They have had me change log ins, passwords, protocols…nothing helps. System is Windows 7 SP1.
Here is the SFTP attempt error message:
Status: Connecting to http://ftp.powweb.com:2222…
Response: fzSftp started, protocol_version=8
Command: open “tworg@ftp.powweb.com” 2222
Command: Trust new Hostkey: Once
Command: Pass: *****************
Error: Authentication failed.
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server
And here is the ftp message:
Status: Resolving address of http://ftp.powweb.com
Status: Connecting to 65.254.250.100:21…
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message…
Response: 220 powweb FTP Server Ready
Command: USER irenelinda
Response: 331 Password required for irenelinda
Command: PASS *****************
Response: 530 Login incorrect.
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server
Cannot understand why login is incorrect since that has been checked and updated several times. PowWeb seems to be able to connect at their end, but I can’t at mine.
I understand if this is far too specific for this Lounge, but thought I’d see if someone here can help better than the ones PowWeb is using in the Philippines and India…and always a different person so there is no issue consistency.
So far, we have tried multiple new passwords and user names. I have updated ftp credentials to ensure they are correct. FileZilla is the latest version (3.33.0); have also tried using earlier version since this has never happened before.
I also checked connection via https://ftptest.net/with this result:
Error: Line feed received without preceding carriage return

[*]The replies sent by your server are violating the FTP specifications.
[*]You have to upgrade to a proper server.
Tried to read through FileZilla documentation to see if my settings were okay, but it was way too technical for me to understand.
So, any help would sure be appreciated!
