finding and eliminating duplicate wrods in MS Word (2003)

Hi is there an easy way to find duplicate entries and eliminate them? I tried find and replace but that deos not work. The idea is I have a list of products i.e., “electric chainsaws” and some are listed multiple times and I want to elininate all but one from the document.

It’s much easier to do this in Excel than in Word, so since the data apparently come from Excel originally, I’d use that. Are you familiar with Data | Filter | Advanced Filter in Excel?

No I am not familiar with the feature but I tried it anyway and I keep getting the first row repeated, otherwise it looks promising. Couid you show me briefly?

Great, you essentially did it correctly. But when using filters, Excel treats the topmost items as column headers (field names). The first instance of RL.IS.REV.0002 in the copied items is a dummy column header. You can either ignore/delete it, or do the following:
– Enter a dummy header of your own in A1 and in E1.
– Now apply Advanced Filter with the Copy to and Unique records only options, with cell A1:A44 as list range and E1 as target.
– Voila! You may want to sort column E to get rid of the blank cell.
