I recently starting having a problem in Google Chrome when trying to watch videos. What was driving me mad was the strange circumstances. I was browsing on My.Yahoo.com. When you click on a video link to view the video Yahoo first plays a short advertisement. This would play just fine. The viewing screen would go black at the end of the ad and the wait icon would appear. The wait icon would never go away, sometimes an error message would pop up saying a plug-in had failed, sometimes it wouldn’t, but in either case – no video would play after the ad.

I’m sure if it’s happening to me, it’s happening to others. Luckily with a Google search I found an old solution from a couple of years ago. To fix the problem all you have to do is dump the browser cache. (Click on the wrench icon in the upper right corner of the browser window, go to options> under the hood> click on the clear browsing data button (use the ” to the beginning of time” setting).

After clearing the cache all is fine in the world and videos all play as expected.
