At times, I want to use data from a pivot table to do on the fly calcs etc., but it seems that whenever I try to reference a cell within a pivot table I automatically get the GETPIVOTDATA function. Is there any way to change this so that I get the standard cell reference.

    Thanks

If you click on the cell while editting – you will get the GETPIVOTDATA
To just get the reference then type it directly e.g. =D5 or whatever

We too have recently upgraded to the newer version of Excel… I have experienced the same issue stated in the original question… as you have already suggested, my solution was to just type in the formula, however I find that to be a bit tedious at times as the formulas can be quite long… any chance there’s a faster way????

Is this new with the XP version? I have a user with the same complaint. I tested this in Excel ’97 and the point and click method did work, you didn’t receive the “GETPIVOTDATA” function. I couldn’t find anything in the HELP, nor a couple of manuals that I have.

Took me nearly 2 years to run into the same problem. And what a simple solution. Doh!!!
