“God Mode” has disappeared from my laptop after the latest (July) updates. Anyone know haw I can get it back? It was very useful.

AskWoody PlusAugust 5, 2022 at 1:06 pm #2467852Gee, that “God Mode” looks a lot like what was called “Control Panel” on Windows 7.

Exactly, but instead of only showing the main groups, it gives you a complete list of all the available options for each group in a nice alphabetized listโฆ which makes it “much easier” to find what you’re looking for!

AskWoody PlusAugust 6, 2022 at 2:10 pm #2468054Here’s the way I have my Win 7 machine’s Control Panel set up.ย I’ve always found this to be very convenient.

AskWoody LoungerAugust 7, 2022 at 10:17 am #2468219I also used that on all my Win7 PC’s (and still do on my one remaining Win7 PC) because, as you said, it’s very convenient!
If you use one of the Win10 Start Menu modifiers out there (I prefer Open-Shell Menu) you can also set Win10 to do that (although it doesn’t show as many Control Panel items because Microsoft moved some of them over to Settings.)
Thing is, even that doesn’t show everything because some of the options are “sub features” of a main Control Panel group, “God mode” lists all the available Control Panel options!

AskWoody MVPAugust 7, 2022 at 7:23 pm #2468336I use Windows 10 and used a slight adaptation of Shawn Brink’s method to add God Mode (properly called All Tasks) to the *right*-click desktop shortcut menu.
The REG file I used is:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ; Created by: Shawn Brink ; http://www.tenforums.com ; Tutorial: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/31976-control-panel-context-menu-add-remove-windows-10-a.html ; Amended to just add God-Mode [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\ControlPanel] "MUIVerb"="Control Panel" "SubCommands"="" "Icon"="imageres.dll,-27" "Position"="Bottom" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\ControlPanel\shell\003flyout] @="All Tasks (God mode)" "Icon"="imageres.dll,-27" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\ControlPanel\shell\003flyout\command] @="explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"
I’ve attached the REG file in a ZIP: Add_God-Mode_to_context_menu
Before:
After:
Result:
Hope this helps…

AskWoody MVPAugust 8, 2022 at 11:22 am #2468497It’s been brought to my attention that an artefact has been introduced into the REG file contents above. The edit window has passed so I’m unable to correct the error myself but have asked for it to be corrected.
In the meantime, in the REG file contents above, please replace the ๏ฟฝ artefact with \0 (i.e. backslash zero) instead in the two places it has occurred.
Sorry about this. (Another posting glitch I’m going to have to check for in future.)

ROFL… except that the replaced \ [backslash] character has – once again – been removed from the amendment by the forum software so shell\003flyout has become shell003flyout… ๐
This is an ongoing problem, folks… so the REG file contents (which are correct in the ZIP attachment) should look like this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ; Created by: Shawn Brink ; http://www.tenforums.com ; Tutorial: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/31976-control-panel-context-menu-add-remove-windows-10-a.html ; Amended to just add God-Mode [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\ControlPanel] "MUIVerb"="Control Panel" "SubCommands"="" "Icon"="imageres.dll,-27" "Position"="Bottom" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\ControlPanel\shell\003flyout] @="All Tasks (God mode)" "Icon"="imageres.dll,-27" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\ControlPanel\shell\003flyout\command] @="explorer.exe shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"
Checked, double-checked… and triple-checked for visual accuracy. ๐
