Maybe its just me, but I don’t recall previously seeing the “Gear” icon in the upper right side of the Google results search page before (showing Quick Settings).

If clicked, the dropdown menu appears.

I am utilizing FireFox but this also shows up with MS Edge.  I am not signed into any Google Account.

Does anyone else see this?  Explanation?

I get this too! Not sure when this feature appeared either.

Perhaps, but this seems more oriented to the Chrome browser itself vs the Google search page layout.

It’s new in the last couple of months:

      Search Page Footer Relocation

You’ll soon see a new experience to make access to key items easier on the Search Results Page on the web. Actions such as send feedback, privacy, and terms can now be found behind the settings icon (⚙️) at the top of the page on desktop.

Bingo!  Glad someone here had the answer.

Now just wish there was a way to get rid of it or hid it as it also unnecessarily increases the page’s header space!
