Grouping Error (Access 97)

Hi folks – I have a simple query sorted on an inventory date. I have made a report with this and related data in the detail section, and grouped it in ascending order. However, when I try to group this on month with a sum in the group footer, it totals the month just fine,but sends the dates out of order. What am I doing wrong?? I have tried swapping bits around in group header sections rather than detail, etc. but am not getting anywhere….

Replies

Reports ignore any sorting done in the data source. You have to specify it in the Sorting and Grouping window. Put the inventory date into the grid twice. Group by month on the first entry, and just sort ascending on the second entry. This will make the dates sort within each month.
