Hans is SO helpful in this Lounge…I’m ready to take up a collection and find the “perfect” thank you gift for him for Christmas (or whatever holiday he is celebrating this year). “Thanks” and our “appreciation” is all he probably wants, but he should be rewarded with more. I sure thank him and appreciate everything he’s solved for me. He’s truly an appreciated and amazingly valuable resource for this audience. I know we cannot send him on vacation anywhere — what would we do if he weren’t reachable, it seems, 24/7 ??

¡Ä but of course he did. And yes, a thank-you is really the only gift he wants. Receiving material rewards would defeat the purpose of Woody’s Lounge. He appreciates the sentiment, though!

Several years ago I was a labourer working at a small manufacturing facility when I was in the right place at the right time and overheard a manager wanting a report that the computer program they were using didn’t supply. I had a good understanding of Excel and other applications although I didn’t have a degree I could flaunt to get a good computer related job. I volunteered to look after creating a spreadsheet. After some successes I was given more and more complex reports to complete until I was in over my head.
This is when I discovered the Lounge and Hans. I had never heard of macros or “Get External Date” but over the next several months Hans patiently walked me through the learning curve. (There were others, of course, who were of immense help and I don’t mean to diminish their contributions, but it always seemed that Hans was the first to answer and it was always the right answer.) This eventually led to my promotion to Network Administrator.
After this company went out of business I was able to secure a similar job by showing them the different things I had done even though their “Help Wanted” ad specifically called for a college degree. I am now working for a large company making a lot more money then I was as a labourer, doing what I love to do.
I cannot imagine myself being here without the existence of this Lounge and in particular the patience and easy to follow lessons by Hans.
Hans, I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for all of the help you have given me.
Thank You Hans and thanks all the other folks who take the time to share your knowledge.

That’s a great outcome, Stats. It had never occurred to me that help given through the Lounge might lead to promotion and a career change.

His Lounge pay is doubled every 6 months in recognition of his great efforts…

On a more serious note, I’m not sure we could ever raise enough money to pay Hans what he is worth, but I do echo your sentiments!

Given the immense assistance I have received from Hans (& others), my thanks seem insignificant.
Thanks Hans and everyone else who have provided me with assitance and guidance (Both through active responses, or via my seraches for old issues/solutions) over the years.
You have certianly improved my life

Hans has been a great source of information / direction to me as well. I also do not wish to diminish in any way all the others who have answered posts with great suggestions. Woody’s is an awesome tool and I often direct folks to this site for reference.
