So far, the only thing I can see that is different is that Chrome no longer retains pinned tabs?? Anybody know what all this means??

Google “*.azureedge.net certificate”. You will see that the cert you installed might possibly have something untrusted in the certificate chain. You should also Google how to remove untrusted certificates.
Hard to tell with out further details…
Going to Microsoft.com and viewing the certificate details I see Microsoft IT TLS CA 4. When Microsoft is renewing these certificates are they reassigned the different sub-domains covered by each certificate? Microsoft does indeed use that common name.
Questions for you…
Using the certificate manager snap-in do you see Microsoft IT TLS CA 4 listed under Current User\Intermediate Certification Authorities\Certificates?
Is the certificate issued to and is the Subject common name really *.azureedge.net?
A certificate will sometimes as a noncritical property have all the valid sub-domains listed in the details tab inside the Certificate Fields box Extensions -> Certificate Subject Alt Name. If this old certificate has reappeared again were you able to examine the details section again?
Are you able the examine the certificate store in Chrome or does that rely on the built-in operating system certificate store?

I have found no .azureedge.net listed anywhere in the certificates.

That certificate listed in your image (post #1895567) like the others (1, 4, 5) are likely being used for the purpose of authentication, for what set of services and such I’m not sure.
It appeared once and I haven’t seen it again. I just clicked “Yes” for do you want to proceed and I have never seen it again.
You might see that dialog again (#1891458) since it near to its expiry date.
Another guess is ‘azureedge.net’ maybe Microsoft’s new thing called an Intelligent Edge, a smarter information scraping system as noted in this marketing page. You may not be using it directly however but do you remember having any Microsoft sites open before the 26th?
