Help to remove MS SilverLight popup (IE7)

This started a couple of days ago and I cannot see any way to disable it. Every time I start IE7 and start browsing, my browser freezes for about 5 seconds, fades out the current page and pops up an AD about MS SilverLight. The AD contains a button to download and an X to close. I do not want to download, so I click on the X. I cannot see any way to cancel or inform that I do not have interest in downloading.

Has anyone come across this before? Do you know haw to stop the popup? I cannot recall doing anything to ask for SilverLight so I do not know where it comes from.

I decided to download and install the thing; I haven’t noticed it being used anywhere since.

Silverlight is a browser plugin from Microsoft for multimedia (video, animation).

I guess I could do that as it is only 1MB, but really…they should give the choice. What if some unfortunate bloke only has 1.1MB left on his harddrive!!

It was slightly tongue-in-cheek, but I really don’t know why it keeps asking you. I clicked No the first time Silverlight was offered, and wasn’t bothered after that. I decided a bit later to try it anyway and searched for it.

If someone only has 1.1MB left on a disk they’ll have more problems than worrying about Silverlight. Microsoft Silverlight: Light Up the Web is the MS competitor for Adobe’s Flash. MS is deploying it more & more on their site. So, I’d just install it and not worry about it.

Thanks Hans and Joe. I fortunately still have quite a few gigs on my hard drive, so I’ll install it.
