I tried over and over again to delete these files in the temp folder and they will not delete. I have searched the internet and nothing is helping and i don’t know where they came from. They do not show up in task manager or anywhere else just the %temp% folder.

Anyone know what they are and how to delete them? Thanks in advance.

APPX.*.tmp are for the most part created by Microsoft Store Apps running on UWP.  The TextInputHost.exe allows text input into a UWP app.  The APPX.*.tmp files can be used to reserve memory addresses for apps.

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!
We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things.

Ok, so which app do I choose to open them, notepad, firefox, windows media player legacy, or Browse apps in the MS Store and then set as default? So confused.

The AppX Deployment Service (located in Services) uses those files when the Microsoft Store finds and installs updates to the Store apps you have installed on your system.

Normally, those files are deleted after the Store apps are successfully updated.

There are several “temp” files that are in use by the system and can’t be deleted.

      I wouldn’t worry about it.

I did update store apps the other day, so they are the culprits! Thank you!
