How to add more info to my computers in Active Directory

I active directory you can put a lot of informations about users, but not about the computers?
Is there a way to add more info boxes in the computer properties in AD?
Maybe there is a add-on to AD someone knows about?
I would like to keep track of my computers hardware and software.

You can add information to the computer object, but that is effectively a manual process and it’s difficult to look up anything or get stats etc.
I’d use a dedicated software audit program that puts the detail into a database. There are several free products that work well.

You can’t add more boxes to the standard AD tools, you’d need to write your own tools to see additional information, and extend the AD schema – that’s why a 3rd party app is best.
