While trying to find an answer to the above subject, I finally stumbled across the answer I was looking for, but in a place that I’d never thought of to look. Can the thread started by @geekdom, that’s currently in the “Learn to code” area be copied over to this area so it can be found by folks looking for an answer? His thread which provided my answer is basically a listing of all the bbCodes that have been known to work here on AskWoody.

I’m asking because that post deals with BOTH learning how to code by showing examples of bbCode, but also deals with learning how to post those codes to make things work specifically here on AskWoody.

I think this should help you understand the situation best:

The use of color in replies has been discouraged in many fora, not just here. For one thing, it invites additional spam attention to the site, and can also cause html issues that need manually addressing by our hard-working volunteer moderators.
It can be very distracting when reading forum threads – some assume their every post to be important enough to use color to get attention, when it is only attention-seeking, and not relevant to the value of their content.

It is acceptable in signatures, when used appropriately.
