How to clone an XP PC into a virtual machine on Win 10?

What would be the steps to clone an existing, running XP Pro machine (32-bit, with lots of old apps and data) as a virtual machine on my Win 10 Pro 64-bit PC (currently version 1909)?

And I’m not a tech, so would need every step.

This is known as P2V (Physical-to-Virtual) and depends on which hypervisor you are going to use, i.e. Win 10’s native Hyper-V or a third-party consumer app like VirtualBox (free) or VMware Workstation Player (free) [or even VMware Workstation (paid)].

Have you looked into any of these? VirtualBox appears to be a favourite… for example:
