How do you want to charge? For example, if somebody uses the PC for 40 minutes, do you charge 40/60 of the hourly charge, i.e. 40 cents? Or do you round up to the nearest whole hour, i.e. you charge 1 hour = 60 cents?

        Thanks hans for the reply,

yes, i want according to the hourly charge..ie..if they use it 40 minutes, then they have to pay it 40 cents

if they use it 70 minutes aka 1 hour and 10 minutes ..they have to pay it 70 cents..

        any idea ? thanks

Format the start, end and duration cells as time. The duration is simply the difference between end and start time.
Since Excel stores times as fractions of 1 day, you must multiply the duration by 24 to get hours, then by the hourly rate.
          See attached, modified version.

Excel must be able to recognize the value you enter as a time. You can enter 1 PM or 13:00.

              thanks again hans..

i try to enter 1 pm and it works..i try to enter 1.30 pm and it didnt works..

cant we just store the time using number like “start” 1 and “end” 2.30 and and count it,,,thanks

using the format for me is pretty annoying and pretty confusing..any idea hans ?

Excel uses the character defined as time delimiter in the Regional Settings control panel. In English-language versions, the default is the colon :
This is the character you must use when entering time, e.g. 1:30 PM.

If you were to use ordinary numbers to enter the time, it would be easy to enter incorrect values. For example, 1.98 does not correspond to a valid time. Moreover, the formulas would become much more complex, because you would have to do all the conversions from hour/minute to decimal yourself.

Set the format for the cells containing amounts of money to a currency format. Just enter 2 in the hourly rate cell. See attached.
