When I hover over a link in my windows mail client a box containing about 10 lines of code relating to the link pops-up making it difficult to click on the link. How do I get rid of this code pop-up?

AskWoody_MVPMarch 14, 2019 at 5:18 pm #341751It’s a security feature so that you can see the full address of a link before you click on it. It appears just above the link you’re hovering over. It’s the same in Outlook as well as Mail.
People have moaned about it for three and a half years, but there’s no way to disable it:
URL pops up while hovering over the links in Windows 10 Mail app.

AskWoody MVPMarch 14, 2019 at 7:33 pm #341789I’m wondering if going to Control Panel, enter Mouse in search box, and within the Mouse Properties box choose Pointer Options tab… and under Motion, checking or unchecking Enhance Pointer Precision, and activating Snap To (automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box) would help? Or change to a larger size pointer?
or
If activating Mouse Keys, which allows you to navigate the screen using the number pad, and using + key to double click and open the e-mail would work…?
Having shaky hands, I’ve had to customize sensitivity for targeting and clicking, and it does take some experimentation to see what works best in your situation.
It shouldn’t take an app, especially a paid one, but SteadyMouse 2 has an Icon Targeting system.
The Microsoft link that @b gives states:
Well that’s an inbuilt feature and there’s no option to disable it. Whenever you click on the picture or link mail, that particular link will always pop up.
Let us know if you have any further queries about Windows 10. We will be happy to assist you.
Which is particularly unhelpful if the pop up is preventing one from opening the e-mail!
