HTML file crashes Word 97

I’m using Word 97 SR 2 and I was trying to open an html file but got an invalid page fault in module HTML32.CNV. I have the Web Authoring Tools installed, so I can’t figure out why I’m getting this crash.

I’m Word97SR2 too (SrTwo 2?!!) and I get crashes when I try to read a file with “too many tables” or “tables nested too deep” or similar.

I have tried opening the HTML in Corel WordPerfect 8 with success, but copy/paste from there into Word ususally fails.

Copy/paste from Netscape 4.75 into Word usually succeeds, at least enough to grab all the text content.
