Following a recent computer upgrade, when I choose to save my word document as a web page via FILE, SAVE AS WEB PAGE, word automatically assumes I want to save it as an MHTML document when in fact I don’t. Prior to the upgrade, whenever I converted a word document this way, it would default to saving it as a HTML. Is there a setting I can alter to make HTML the default?

    Thank you.

I’ve got Word 2002 at hand, so your options may differ. Please check both of the following in the Options dialog (Tools>Options…)

      * Save tab, Default format — should say DOC (not, for example, Web Archive, which generates MHT files)

      * General tab, Web Options… button — I don’t see anything right away, but maybe in 2003 there is something here?

        THANKS!

I thought I had looked all over the options menu but apparently I missed it. It is in fact under Tools, Options, Web Options, and then I unchecked “save new web pages as Single File web pages”.

Phew…re-setting upgrades is nasty! Thanks again for your help.
