    Hi all,

On my (and other users) PC’s, when I insert an ABC flowchart image into a new document as a linked object, the image is inserted.
The inserted image however is about 2.7 x 13 cm wide/high, not the full size of the graphic to be inserted.
Dragging the image handles only changes the zoom, not the displayed area of the chart.

If i were to delete/rename normal dot the image is inserted correctly, also if I were to use another template other than normal dot, everything is OK.

As you can see I have a work around, my question is about why this occurs.
    Has anyone any ideas.

A sample of the offending word doc is attached…

Perhaps your Normal.dot has become corrupt. Your document caused my Word 2002 to behave strangely (apart from the message that the source object could not be found); one time I got warnings that the system was low on resources and the document wasn’t opened; another time Word crashed; yet another time the document opened but it took a very long time.

        HansV,

I hope I did not cause your machine any long term harm.

I was hoping that this is not the case but I suppose I will err on the side of caution and delete normal dot.

Thanks for your time & effort on this.

          Hi Kieran,

No, nothing serious happened, it was just your document. If you have a backup copy of Normal.dot you can try loading that.

      hi Kieran,

i don’t know why it occurs, but if you enter a negative cropping value (!) for the right margin in the format->opbject dialog box, the entire image will be displayed. maybe setting standard formatting properties for obejcts also sets the cropping margins for to be inserted objects?

      greetings,

        Hi Pieter:
That’s strange. I did that with no difference than if I had dragged the right border. I experienced results similar to Hans (but with Word 2000). I assumed it was because Word was looking for a non-existent source. Funny, I didn’t lose my image, even though the source couldn’t be found, so the object must be imbeded as well as linked.
