I was planning on replacing my desktop. Anyone has an opinion on this Lenovo?

AskWoody PlusSeptember 8, 2023 at 10:06 am #2586057The price looks reasonable for the headline specs.
This is where I would go into the weeds and look into the details such as the total number of USB ports (front and back), the variety of video ports available on the graphics card, the number of PCI slots available, and how many drives I can install inside the case. Sometimes you can find an attractive-sounding machine that, however, leaves little room for expansion and limited flexibility for the kind of peripherals you can connect.
I’d also look for the same or a comparable PC model from other vendors such as Staples or especially Newegg. A few days ago my father was surprised to see a better price than Amazon’sย for an item that he was shopping for.

They always have a sale in progress.

AskWoody_MVPSeptember 8, 2023 at 11:47 am #2586079To answer your question we’d have to know if you are a gamer or not. Seems reasonable for a gamer and way over-speced, and thus over-priced, for a non-gamer.

AskWoody PlusSeptember 9, 2023 at 1:30 pm #2586241I recall when if you were a gamer you had to update or buy a new computer every year or two because of the rapid hardware and system requirements of the games.ย Nowadays almost the same scenario applies to Win 11 players or Win11’ers.

AskWoody PlusOctober 18, 2023 at 12:47 pm #2595198I completely shutdown whatever computer I’m using when I’m done, and if I know I’ll be coming back to it soon I just put it into Sleep mode.ย My main desktop computer is 11 years old and is still running fine.ย My old IBM and Sony laptops are still running fine too.ย As for your new computer starting up again, I have no idea what’s causing that.ย All this new hardware and software does crazy things these days!
