I’m getting a lot of questions from people with Win10 version 1803 who wonder if they’re doomed to upgrade to Win10 1903 in the next few weeks. Micros

GuestAugust 12, 2019 at 10:09 am #1906917I jumped from 1803 to 1809 about a month ago to avoid this very headache. The only problem I’ve had with 1809 so far, is that it will sometimes for no reason freeze up and nothing works. The keyboard freezes, the mouse freezes, can’t do anything except control + alt + delete and restart. other than that small bug, 1809 has been working just fine and if it’s not too late, I would recommend 1809 over 1903 any day.

GuestAugust 21, 2019 at 9:17 am #1913699I am getting the 1903 nag every time 1809 is updated. According to the Softies:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet
1809 will “timeout” on May 12, 2020 so we can ride it out until then. Curiously, 1903 timeouts just seven months later on December 8, 2020 and there is no OS listed after that!
As a sidebar, I’m about to update a Windows 8 laptop to Windows 10. Does anyone know what version I will get if I use the Softies “Windows Anytime Upgrade?” Or even if that will work? I tried it with my Windows 7 [just for S&G] and this is what I got:
Your browser is out-of-date
You need to update your browser to use the site.
Update to the latest version of Internet ExplorerWindows Anytime Upgrade not
Available
Applies to: Windows 7LOL. So updating to the latest version of IE [which I have] is a red herring!

GuestAugust 31, 2019 at 9:09 am #1927780Thanks Joe. A couple of strange things have happened over the past week. Two or three days ago, my WIN10 x64 laptop running 1809 stated that 1903 would be installed and to pick a date (not optional) so I picked September 3, the last date shown.
Today, I got an update to 1809 and now Windows Update is back to the nag screen, “When you’re ready…” I see no evidence of it forcing 1903 on September 3. I wonder what happened?
