I have developed a Visio organizational chart w/ employee data from an Access database. Currently, it is perfect w/ title blocks, freestanding text, etc. In the next week someone will surely resign or be hired. How do I refresh my Visio org chart w/ based on updated information from my Access database without having to re-create my cosmetically perfect org chart each time?

How did you develop the org chart in the first place? Did you have the database draw it? If you created it by hand based on database info, you have a problem. It will have to be tweaked by hand. Was the Import Flowchart Data Wizard or Org Chart Wizard used?

The Org Chart Wizard was used.

That’s a tough one. I can only guess that you will have to tweak the existing one by hand or else modify the file it runs off (text, Excel, or whatever) and format the regenerated chart. I once wrote a bunch of VBA code to take data like that from an Excel spreadsheet and draw such a chart according to criteria I gave it, but that is a LOT of work. Perhaps have the old one open and run the wizard with the new data and compare side by side. Drag and drop what is needed. I’m out of ideas. shrug
